Europe’s major car maker Volkswagen is to launch Volkswagen UP in India in the early 2010 and the most attractive feature of it is that the Volkswagen UP price is likely to be juts Rs. 3 lakhs which would make Volkswagen UP the cheapest Volkswagen car ever. Volkswagen aims at the best and maximum production of it in the coming years to become the best car seller in India. Volkswagen is looking at the emerging markets to boost up its bottom lines and has planed to produce 2, 40,000 vehicles annually in India by 2012. The cheapest price Volkswagen Up was first debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. But Volkswagen Polo will be the first low priced one to be launched in India which will range about Rs. 5 lakhs.

The Rs. 3 lakh Volkswagen Up has all the modern technologies in it because the satisfaction of customer is the satisfaction of the company Volkswagen. The car Up is to seat four adults in full comfort and features a unique flat folding seat system too. The seats of UP fit every body shape since the seats are air inflatable. The extra features of Up include central display, two monitors, an 8 inch monitor which shows the vehicle speed, fuel level and range, as well as your CO2 emissions. The second 7 inch monitor in Volkswagen Up controls the climate in the car, radio volume, music selection, telephone, navigation, photos and movies etc. But the disadvantage is that it will be a two door vehicle which will be quiet difficult to get in and out. On the other hand the four doors UP is also ready in the Volkswagen show case. But the four doors might be bit costlier due to raw material cost and tax. But we can’t hide the fact that the two door Up looks smarter than the four doors Up. The mini Up has a cute look with less length. The longer one of course will offer more comfort.

The Volkswagen Up engine is likely to be a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. The power outputs may range from just 60 to 86 horsepower and it is expected to have a six speed manual and an optional automated gear system too. Though not declared it is to offer a great mileage too as the Indian middle class car buyers will surely look for the fuel efficiency of any vehicle. Though Up is have a fairly simple beam-type rear axle and rear drum brakes and front-disc brakes, ABS, and electric power steering for the standard version for the U.S. car buyers, we will have to wait and see how many of these will be offered to Indian car market.
